Don’t be shocked, May is Electric Safety Month!
Electricity is a powerful force and if not used correctly, it can be life-threatening.
That’s why Oklahoma’s 30 electric cooperatives have teamed together to make sure members across the state are
wired up for safety!
Here are three electrical safety tips to keep your family safe:
- Call OKIE 811 before digging to avoid underground power lines.
- If your car hits a utility pole, your vehicle and the surrounding area can become energized. Do not leave your car and call 911. The only reason to exit the vehicle is if it’s on fire.
- If your car has made contact and is on fire, hop away with your feet together as far as you can from your vehicle.
Stay tuned with Central during the month of May for safety updates all month.
